Our Story

Community Giving

Honoured to give

Giving back to the communities we serve is an integral part of The Friendship Food Company DNA. What follows is just a glimpse at a few of the many ways that we are honoured to give…

2025 / 2026

The Belong Centre, Port Moody

A skateboarding pastor has tapped into a former Port Moody pub to create a new community centre for young people. Dave Jonsson — a pro skateboarder whose journey to faith started after he survived a plane crash near Squamish — is opening the Belong Centre in the old Rocky Point Taphouse at 2524 St. Johns St.: indoor skateboarding, an upstairs arcade, a juice bar, live music, art and a place to simply hang out.

Fortunately the building's owner — Roger Milad, CEO of Friendship Foods, who operates 22 A&W's in the Lower Mainland and Vancouver Island — was amenable to Jonsson's vision. Volunteers and sponsors including Windsor Plywood, Galactic Entertainment, Dulux Paint, AZ Painting and Vancity Electric have transformed the old pub with ramps, slopes, benches and low tabletops for grinding moves.

As property owner, Roger Milad also welcomed a $20,000 Deluxe Paint sponsorship enabling an incredible 80-foot mural for the Art Outside Festival — celebrating Port Moody through trains, bears, water and mountains — with the community invited to hand-paint the lower six feet at the Car Free Day unveiling, supported by A&W.

In September 2024, Pret A Manger (known today as “Pret”) began selling their coffee at A&W restaurants across Canada, which came after a successful pop-up trial run started in 2022 at locations in Toronto and Vancouver.

In April of 2026, Milad Brands created a wholly-owned subsidiary: JEM Family Restaurants Corporation Ltd. invited to bid against other highly qualified A&W owner-operators for a contract to operate, as a licensee , an initial 3 restaurants at Vancouver International Airport (YVR).

JEM won the bid — and just two months later, on June 12, 2026, opened the first Pret location at Pier D (the International Departures gates at YVR). This is the first Pret A Manger at a Canadian airport.

“Ready to eat,” since 1983

Pret A Manger, which translates to “ready to eat” in French, was founded in London in 1983 by Jeffrey Hyman. After the original store went bankrupt, university friends Julian Metcalfe and Sinclair Beecham bought the name, recipes and branding in 1986 — creating the modern fast-casual chain we know today.

The founders established a simple, highly successful business model centred around two things: serving high-quality, fresh food without preservatives, and offering it as a grab-and-go option for busy urban professionals.

vacario™ — where travel inspiration and travel commerce converge

Redefining travel for Generation Z, in partnership with Canadian partner Ai2Aim.

vacario™ is redefining travel for Generation Z by recognizing a fundamental shift in how young travelers discover, evaluate, and purchase travel experiences. Unlike previous generations, Gen Z relies heavily on authentic social content, peer recommendations, creators, and immersive digital experiences before making travel decisions. Yet today's travel industry remains fragmented, forcing consumers to move between social media platforms for inspiration and separate booking sites to complete transactions. This disconnect creates friction, lost engagement, and missed revenue opportunities for both travelers and travel providers.

vacario™ solves this problem by becoming the first platform purpose-built to integrate a dedicated travel social network with a full-service travel booking ecosystem. Rather than simply selling travel, vacario enables users to discover destinations through creators — influencers, local experts, friends, and fellow travelers — while seamlessly converting inspiration into immediate bookings without ever leaving the platform. Every photo, video, recommendation, livestream, itinerary, and user-generated experience becomes a potential booking opportunity, creating a continuous engagement loop that traditional online travel agencies cannot replicate.

For Milad Brands and its Canadian partner Ai2Aim, this represents an opportunity to participate in the next evolution of digital travel. By combining social engagement, creator-driven content, and integrated commerce within a single ecosystem, vacario is positioned to build stronger user loyalty, increase customer lifetime value, generate multiple recurring revenue streams, and create powerful network effects that become increasingly difficult for conventional booking platforms to match.

As Generation Z becomes the world's largest travel-spending demographic over the coming decade, vacario™ is uniquely positioned to become the platform where travel inspiration and travel commerce finally converge.

Home / Our Portfolio / Milad Media Network Milad Media Network logo Niche Vertical Web Sites

Milad Media Network

A new generation of digital media assets focused on highly targeted niche markets with exceptionally qualified audiences.

Unlike traditional digital publishers that compete for broad, low-intent traffic, Milad Media acquires and develops category-leading websites that attract consumers who are already researching products and are close to making a purchase decision. Verticals such as electric mobility, BBQ and outdoor cooking, premium grill parts, workwear, and live-streaming technology create communities of enthusiasts whose interests translate directly into measurable purchasing behaviour. This positions Milad Media at the highest-value point in the digital customer journey.

The strategic value of these assets extends far beyond advertising revenue. Each website functions as a trusted authority within its niche, allowing Milad Media to monetize through affiliate commerce, sponsorships, premium content, lead generation, brand partnerships, data insights, and eventually proprietary e-commerce. As the portfolio grows, the company creates significant economies of scale through centralized technology, AI-powered content creation, SEO expertise, audience analytics, and shared marketing infrastructure.

Rather than purchasing advertising to reach customers, Milad Media owns the relationship with qualified buyers at the exact moment they are making purchasing decisions — transforming each niche website from a standalone media property into a long-term digital asset capable of generating recurring cash flow while appreciating in enterprise value.

The Portfolio

Niche digital assets

Individually, each website dominates a specialized niche. Collectively, they create a diversified digital media ecosystem reaching millions of consumers preparing to make purchasing decisions.

As additional niche verticals are acquired, the portfolio becomes increasingly valuable through network effects, recurring revenue, and ownership of trusted digital brands that influence consumer purchasing decisions.

Milad Developments

Real estate supported by long-term structural demand, clear community need, and defensible market fundamentals.

Milad Developments is focused on real estate opportunities that are more resilient than conventional multi-unit residential apartment projects — particularly in a market where rising interest rates, construction costs, financing constraints, and rental repricing have placed pressure on traditional apartment development economics. Rather than pursuing commodity rental housing alone, Milad Developments seeks projects supported by long-term structural demand, clear community need, and defensible market fundamentals.

Featured Project

2524 St. Johns Street, Port Moody

Milad Developments is seeking approval for a mixed-use project combining street-level retail with seniors assisted living and care. This development responds directly to one of Canada's most important demographic realities: the rapid aging of the population.

Statistics Canada reported more than 8.1 million Canadians aged 65 and older in 2025, while B.C.'s seniors population is projected to grow from about 19% of the province in 2020 to nearly 25% by 2041.

Seniors assisted living is not simply another real estate category — it is essential community infrastructure. By delivering purpose-built seniors housing with integrated retail and community-serving uses, Milad Developments creates projects that are both socially meaningful and economically protected from the volatility affecting conventional apartment development.

A company builder and public-market catalyst

Milad Ventures identifies promising businesses and strategic assets, establishes public-company vehicles, and structures the transactions that bring those opportunities to the public markets.

Milad Ventures is a venture-creation and capital-markets enterprise that identifies promising businesses and strategic assets, establishes public-company vehicles, and structures the transactions required to bring those opportunities to the public markets.

Its role extends well beyond passive investment. Milad Ventures helps originate opportunities, negotiate acquisitions, organize financing, coordinate regulatory and exchange requirements, and position the resulting companies with the leadership and capital needed for growth.

Originate

Identifies promising businesses and strategic assets, then negotiates the acquisitions that bring them together.

Structure

Establishes public-company vehicles and organizes the financing, regulatory and exchange requirements behind each listing.

Position

Equips the resulting companies with the leadership and capital needed to pursue accelerated long-term growth.

The Model in Action

From private opportunity to public issuer

Two public-company vehicles demonstrate the repeatability of the Milad Ventures strategy.

Ankh Capital

Quetzal Copper → Silverco Mining

Ankh entered into an amalgamation agreement to acquire Quetzal Copper, creating a pathway for Quetzal and its portfolio of copper-exploration properties in British Columbia and Mexico to become a TSX Venture Exchange-listed issuer.

Quetzal subsequently received conditional TSXV acceptance for a reverse takeover by Silverco Mining — under which the resulting company was expected to become Silverco Mining Ltd. and continue trading as a Tier 2 mining issuer. Silverco brought a 100% interest in the 16,073-hectare Cusi Mine Project in Mexico, including a permitted, past-producing underground silver-lead-zinc-gold operation and an existing 1,200-tonne-per-day mill.

Ankh II Capital

Bell Lake VMS Property

A second public-company vehicle demonstrates the repeatability of the strategy. Ankh II entered into a definitive agreement to acquire the company holding the rights to the Bell Lake VMS Property in northwestern Ontario.

The proposed transaction combines a prospective mineral asset, an intended TSXV Tier 2 listing, specialized management, and a supporting private placement to fund exploration and development.

Announced June 2, 2026.
